Sports Foundation Sports Awards
Mr Woodhouse attended the annual Isle of Wight Sports Foundation Sports Awards. This event recognises the sporting achievements of teams and individuals from across the island in many different categories. They also celebrate the great work that goes on in Primary and Secondary school sport. Mr Woodhouse had nominated the school for the Primary School award on the back of the recent PEACH Gold Award and the AfPE with Distinction Award. Also included in the application was the work around bringing Quidditch to the Island and in particular how it has engaged a whole new group of children many of whom haven't wanted to attend additional activity sessions after school in the past. All nominations are adjudicated by a panel that have a vast amount of experience of Island sport.
We were awarded the very rare (only previously awarded in 2018 and 2019) Outstanding Achievement Award for School Sport based on the strength of the application. In particular the panel were impressed with the range of additional activities on offer and the importance placed on PE as a subject within school and how it contributes to the overall health and wellbeing of its students. The nationally recognised AfPE award with distinction also deserved a special mention as it demonstrates the hard work and dedication of all at the school including the parent helpers/volunteers, teaching staff who deliver PE and the support staff who assist with fixtures and competitions.
